THIS IS ME!

Room in a box

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone!! 🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅

Seguid siendo tan maravillosos y no cambiéis nunca.

Y ahora simplemente os toca ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡DISFRUTAR DEL VERANO!!!!!!!!

Hasta siempre ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Spelling contest!

This is a very attractive game to play for a long time while learning a lot!

You just have to click HERE, select your game, your avatar and start playing!

Even if you want, you can also sign in the website and have lots of fun while doing spelling contests with you family and friends.

There is a great bunch of levels, from first grade to eighth grade (American educational system), even for adults. So, attention to diversity is totally taken into account here.

It is very easy to learn English and enjoy at the same time!

Gruffalo and puppets

Another aim in Foreign Language lessons is to facilitate closure to English literature for children. We did an activity using puppets through crafts. All the children were involved and even some mothers helped them and explained how to do it. The materials used were simple:

- A shoe box
- A small cardboard
- Small wooden sticks
- Drawings and paper to create the characters
- A ribbon
- Stationery stuff to decorate
- Glue and scissors

The students play, act out and learn a traditional story from English literature, 'The Gruffalo'. At the same time, they identify and remember common lexis and grammatical structures (hidden practice), while they improve their pronunctiation while reading and performing.

It can be very creative to do, for example, to celebrate the International Book's Day

They had a very good time with this activity:

Attractive activities + motivation + teacher as a prompter and a facilitator = SUCCESS! 💪

Games for the little ones

Today's website is full of educative and entertaining games for the little kids of the house. These games help with spelling in an incredibly fun and delicated way (the Princess Presto games are specially sweet!).

As an English teacher, I would use them from 1st grade to 3rd grade, but sometimes the older ones like to play English games with websites full of colour! It can also be very interesting that siblings play together, so they learn at the same time in a cooperative way ❤

I hope you enjoy them a lot! And remember: learning English can be very fun!

English and Friends

This section is designed to introduce to you my foreign friends all over the world.

I would love you to understand that English is not only for the classroom. It is not only to pass the test. English is for love. English is for friendship. English is for culture. English is for LIFE.

Thanks to English I have had the opportunity to get to know fantastic friends from different countries. Why is it thanks to English? Because English means COMMUNICATION.

When you know how to speak English, you can talk to the whole world. My experiences with English have always been great. I would like you to feel the same as me. Truly.

I hope you are ready to know some of my international friends. I am sure you'll have a good time discovering the posts of this section!

Short dialogues (Role-play)

Now you are going to watch pair-work conversations about daily topics. With this, functional learning is prompted, as the students use English applying it to real life.

Teacher Maribel is doing a great job with the kids in the latest English lessons.

FIRST DIALOGUE 'My weekend' (past simple):

Nerea: What did you do at the weekend?
Lucía: I went to a concert.
Nerea: Did you enjoy it?
Lucía: Yes, I did. It was fantastic.
Nerea: What was your favourite part?
Lucía: I liked the music. It was fantastic.

Then, they say the same, but switching roles:

SECOND DIALOGUE 'At the shop' (conditional):

Houda: Hello, can I help you?
Patricia: Yes, I'd like some bread and many sugar, please.
Houda: How much bread do you like?
Patricia: I'd like one loaf of bread, please.
Houda: And how much sugar?
Patricia: I'd like one packet of sugar.
Houda: Anything else?
Patricia: No, thanks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Patricia: Hello, can I help you?
Houda: I'd like lots of bananas and a little of chocolate.
Patricia: How many bananas would you like?
Houda: I'd like five bananas.
Patricia: And how much chocolate?
Houda: One ounze of chocolate.
Patricia: Anything else?
Houda: No, thanks.

I love how they did it!! Mistakes here are totally unimportant for me, because they are wonderfully doing the most important thing when learning a foreign language: COMMUNICATING!!!

Well done, girls!!! 👌👌👌👌

India is so colourful!

Hey! Today I bring you a country which you didn't imagine English was spoken!

This country is INDIA and it is located in Asia. Because with English you can go everywhere in the world. Isn't it amazing? In this map, you can locate India easily:

As you can see, it takes 14 hours to get this country by plane. Yes, it is quite far 😲 The main city of India is New Delhi.

The most important festival in India is HOLI and it is celebrated at the end of March. It is a colourful and really fun party in which everyone goes out and throw coloured powder to each other! Also, you can learn how Indian people dress themselves looking at their clothes.

I have prepared a Coldplay video for you to sing and enjoy music while you learn about Indian culture. I use this song to teach and review Present Simple and Present Continuous.

The song is called 'Hymn for the weekend'. Does it sound to you? 😉

I bet you are going to like it very much

Another video with the lyrics:

Wait! This post is not finished!

In the classroom my students are also working on Indian culture. They are preparing the end of school year with a great dance for the school party! The song's name is 'Jai Ho' and it comes from the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' (thanks to the great teacher Maribel!!). They mix English + Music + Physical Education (CLIL methodology) here and it feels so good!

They do it really well and you can feel joy in their faces. Dancing supposes a great motivation for them. Because if they are happy at school, I am happy too. 💞😃

(Por supuesto, les llevé la "caja bombones"... 🍬 😏)
